How do you learn?

No matter where you’re at in your student career (and it’s never too late), it is important to find out how you learn. You probably already have a good idea, if you don’t then take the following test, there are 20 or so questions

http://www.educationplanner.org/students/self-assessments/learning-styles-quiz.shtml

It will take you less than five minutes.

When you’re finished with the test, you’ll have a pretty good idea of how you learn. They’ll give you some percentages. I like to take the top two and focus on those.

The test will show you if you’re:

Auditory – hearing (duh)

Visual – reading or seeing pictures

Or Tactile – touching and doing

There are different ways and techniques for learning based on the results you obtained, we’ll talk about that in the days and weeks ahead. Something else to remember is just because you learn best one way, doesn’t mean that you can’t learn anything another way. For me, even though I’m a visual and tactile learner, I listened to lectures and even recoreded them to listen to when I was driving.

I’ve talked about using a lot of flashcards, no matter what style of learning you can use those. If you’re auditory you read them out loud, Visual draw pictures and read them, Tactile, play with them.

We’ll talk more tomorrow, hope you have a great day!
